Our herd represents bloodlines of Grandmaster, Triumph, Augusto, Accipiter, Plantel, Camilio, Victor, Black Magic, and Amadeus. We also maintain a full Accoyo herd representing genetics from Triumph, Camilio, Dracula, Don Juan and Accipiter.
Accoyo alpacas can produce very high fleece weights with low micron counts, standard deviation, and coefficients of variation. A fine fleece tends to feel softer and have better handle. Coarse less uniform fleece will spin a yarn that tends to feel prickly. The prickleness is created because the coarse fibers being heavier end up on the outside of the the yarn during the spinning process.
Accoyo alpacas tend for large stature and fineness. Seventy percent of the entire Accoyo fleece clip grades baby fine. This includes leg, belly, and neck fiber. Custer’s Alpacas maintains a herd of Accoyo Alpacas to use on our dark colored dams. This will insure access to known pedigrees and established qualities.
Custer’s Alpacas strives to develop a diversity of genetics for us to provide the raw material for our clients to build value in their own Alpaca portfolio. We offer full warrantees on all our Alpacas, live birth guarantee, agistment services, and financing to qualified buyers. Visitors are always welcome to the ranch.
